Mechanical Estimator

Company Overview:
Our client, a growing M & E contractor in the construction industry, and is looking for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their growing team in Kempston, Bedfordshire. They specialize in delivering high-quality mechanical services across various sectors, including commercial, residential, and industrial projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate mechanical estimates and costings for projects, including labour, materials, and overheads.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand the scope of work and provide comprehensive estimates.
• Analyse and review tender documentation, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and ensure the best value for the project.
• Maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide support and guidance to junior estimators when necessary.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator, ideally working for a Tier 2 or 3 contractor.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, installation processes, and cost structures.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Plumbing background advantageous.
• Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with estimating software and tools is a plus.

Desirable Skills:

• A relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering and plumbing.
• Experience with both new build and refurbishment projects.
